Edward specializes in company law. His practice covers all kinds of companies, ranging from private enterprises to listed ones. As a Chartered Company Secretary, he is particularly well-equipped to provide advice on company matters due to his background in company secretarial and compliance work – an asset that is quite unique within the legal profession.
Edward commenced his pupillage at Des Voeux Chambers, a leading set in civil practice, where he gained extensive exposure to sophisticated commercial disputes. He continued his criminal law training in the chambers of Cheng Huan SC and Lawrence Lok SC; both are widely recognised for their expertise in criminal works. This rigorous training complements his corporate practice and equips him well to handle complex commercial crimes, particularly those involving company affairs or the stock market.
Prior to his admission as a barrister, Edward worked at several listed companies, providing compliance and in-house legal advisory services. He is well-versed in the operation of the stock market and the regulatory environment for listed corporations. Edward excels in giving advice on legal issues arising from day-to-day business operations and procedural matters. Drawing on his substantial business experience, he offers clients a balanced perspective that combines legal expertise with commercial insight and practicality.
Apart from his legal practice, Edward was previously retained by the HKICPA as a lecturer and examiner for their company law courses. He is currently an adjunct lecturer at HKU SPACE, where he teaches business law subjects from diploma to postgraduate level.
